Georgia Council for the Arts Announces Advisory Board
Members Officially Sworn-In by Governor Sonny Perdue
ATLANTA Georgia Council for the Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of its Advisory Board. The following individuals accepted their appointment as board members:

The Board was officially sworn in by Gov. Sonny Perdue at a ceremony held in the north wing of the State Capitol. Members represent individuals from various state districts who are active in their respective communities as arts advocates and experts.
"We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and charismatic group of people to volunteer their collective expertise for the benefit of the agency," said Kathy Williams, Chair of the Advisory Board. "We have met as a group and are already hard at work reviewing guidelines and implementing policy."

In addition to providing advice and support, the Advisory Board is responsible for endorsing policy and fiscal recommendations, approving fundraising plans, and recommending the goals, objectives and direction of the Council.
The Georgia Council for the Arts is a state agency that provides support for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations throughout the state. Established in 1965 as the Georgia Commission on the Arts, the Georgia Council for the Arts mission is to encourage excellence in the arts, support the arts many forms of expression and make the arts available to all Georgians by providing funding, leadership, programming and other services. Funding for the Georgia Council for the Arts is provided by the Georgia General Assembly, the National Endowment for the Arts and other private and public sources.
