Georgia Council for the Arts Awards More Than $100,000 in Grants to Arts Organizations

Georgia The Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) has awarded more than $100,000 in grants to non-profit arts and non-arts organizations statewide through the Fast Track/Quick Benefits Program. GCA grant awards fund contracts for programming or services these organizations provide to Georgia citizens in visual, literary, and performing arts from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005.

All of the funded applications will receive the full amount requested for the project.

"The peer panels, GCA staff and Advisory Board members involved in reviewing this group of applications were impressed with the creativity and professional accountability written into these proposals. Through this grant program, GCA will be a full partner in new, remarkably diverse arts services and professional development across the state," said GCA Grants Director Walton Ray.

Georgia Council for the Arts awards funds through appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Grant applications are reviewed by peer panelists and evaluated based on artistic excellence, administrative capability, and accessibility for diverse populations and people with disabilities. The 26-member GCA Advisory Board, appointed by the Governor, makes final funding recommendations to the Governor for approval.

Fast Track/Quick Benefits is a project support program that provides funding for arts projects and organizational development for arts organizations.
