Georgia Council for the Arts Welcomes Adrienn Mendonca as Traditional Arts Manager

Georgia The Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) is pleased to announce that Adrienn
Mendonca, a formally trained public folklorist, oral historian and historic preservationist, has accepted the position of Traditional Arts Manager. In this permanent part-time position, Ms. Mendonca will manage GCA's Traditional Arts granting program, and seek to build knowledge of and access to the folk and traditional arts throughout Georgia.

As the owner and consultant of Mendonca Consulting (Savannah, Georgia), Ms. Mendonca has worked for publishers, schools, museums, public programming organizations, non-profit corporations, and special event/cultural tourism organizations in a variety of fields, including writing, editing, teaching, folklore, historic preservation, documentary fieldwork, program management, cultural interpretation and presentation.

Ms. Mendonca earned a B.A. in English Literature and Minor in African studies from Tulane University. Additionally, she is a M.A. candidate in Folklore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a M.A. candidate in Historic Preservation at the Savannah College of Art & Design.

The Georgia Council for the Arts is a state agency that provides support for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations throughout the state. Established in 1965 as the Georgia Commission on the Arts, the Georgia Council for the Arts mission is to encourage excellence in the arts, support the arts many forms of expression and make the arts available to all Georgians by providing

funding, leadership, programming and other services. Funding for the Georgia Council for the Arts is provided by the Georgia General Assembly, the National Endowment for the Arts and other private and public sources.
