BY THE GOVERNOR OF T HE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

ENROLLED AGENT WEEK

WHEREAS:

The Enrolled Agent profession dates back to 1884 when Congress passed legislation to regulate persons who represented citizens in their dealings with the U.S. Treasury Department; and

WHEREAS:

Enrolled Agents are licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to assist taxpayers with the annual compliance filing of their tax return or more complex issues such as audits, liens, levees, appeals, and collections; and

WHEREAS:

Individuals become Enrolled Agents by passing a comprehensive examination on the tax code, or by virtue of previous IRS employment for five or more years; and

WHEREAS:

Enrolled Agents provide honest, intelligent, and ethical representation of the financial position of taxpayers before government agencies, benefitting both Georgia's taxpayers and the Georgia Department of Revenue; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 6-12, 201 7, as ENROLLED AGENT WEEK in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this Sth day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand seventeen.
