A PROCLAMATION

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Hispanic Americans comprise the fastest growing ethnic community in the State of Georgia and our nation ; and
Hispanic Americans have made exceptional contributions throughout our history in the areas of science, medicine, business, law, government, sports, education, and the arts and have played a pivotal role in preparing our region for global competence and success; and
The accomplishments of Hispanic Americans, based on determination, inte lligence, and work ethic, have promoted the growth and stability of our region by helping to mold the character and the future of this state; and
Hispanic Heritage Month affords us an opportunity to recognize the vitality of the Hispanic culture as an integral part of our society and acknowledge the service of Hispanic Americans to our country, from those who have aided our local communities to those who have served in the armed forces, distinguishing themselves in leadership and courage. Their values, accomplishments, and hard work have made them a model for all Americans to emulate; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim September 2016 - October 2016 as HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 1st day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
