A PROCLAMATION

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY WEEK

The concept of Intellectual Property plays a significant role in Georgia's economy by incentivizing investments in knowledge. Intellectual . property rights provide additional protections to those who develop successful innovations and inventions that obtain an economic return; and
Intellectual Property is sustained by those who protect and leverage patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and licensing agreements; and
Georgia State University and Georgia Institute of Technology are playing an important role in the State of Georgia's national and global success with Intellectual Property, including hosting The Annual Charitable IP Golf Tournament on October 3, the 1Qth Annual Corporate IP Institute on October 25-26, and The AnnuaiiP Career Showcase on October 26; and
Georgia State University and Georgia Tech support businesses, IP providers, and IP students throughout the year by hosting the Corporate IP Roundtable, Patent Agent Roundtable, IP Springposium, IP Hot Topics , IP Think Tank, and more, therefore contributing to the state's thriving greater technology sector; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim October 3-9, 2016, as INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY WEEK in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 19th day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
