BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

CASE ~ MANAGEMENT WEEK

WHEREAS:

The history of Case Management dates back to the early 1900s, when nurses and social workers began to coordinate services throughout the public sector. The field further developed during the Second World War as insurance companies began to employ nurses and social workers to facilitate care for the soldiers returning from war; and

WHEREAS:

Facilities ranging from hospitals, insurance companies, rehabilitation facilities, home health agencies, and managed care organizations will sponsor local educational events to commemorate Case Management Week; and

WHEREAS:

Thousands of Georgians have benefited from the dedicated and compassionate care they received from case managers. Our state is proud to commend the men and women who are committed to improving the health and well-being of our citizens; and

WHEREAS:

The week of October 9-1 5, 2016, serves to educate the public about case management and increase recognition of the significant contributions of case managers to quality health care for patients, health care providers, and payers; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim Octobe r 9-1 5, 2016, as CASE MANAGEMENT WEEK in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 30th day of August in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
