A PROCLAMATION
LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSES WEEK
WHEREAS:
Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) play a vital role in Georgia's health care delivery system , working under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care and acute and emergency facilities; and
WHEREAS:
Over 47,000 LPNs practice in Georgia. LPNs provide cost-effective , safe and quality health care through their professionalism and compassion f or pati ents; and
WHEREAS:
The demand for LPNs will continue to grow due to an ag ing population, the development of life-sustaining technology, and the emergence of home health care services; and
WHEREAS:
The Georgia Licensed Practical Nurses Association is organized to promote excellence among members in health care vocations and to develop and maintain high educational standards; and
WHEREAS:
The State of Georgia is proud to recognize our licensed practical nurses during their annual conference in Macon, Georgia, and express our gratitude for their devotion to helping improve the quality of life for all Georgians; now
THEREFORE:
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim October 24-25, 2016 , as LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSES WEEK in Georgia and commend these health care professionals for their tireless dedication to health care in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 19th day of August in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
