A proclamation: Memorial Day [May 23, 2016]

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE:

A PROCLAMATION
MEMORIAL DAY
On Memorial Day, America undertakes its solemn duty to remember the brave Americans who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom and the security of our nation; and
By honoring these proud Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen lost throughout our country's history, we renew our commitment to upholding the democratic ideals they fought and died to preserve; and
We are constantly reminded that there are those in the world who would attempt to deprive us of our freedom and undermine our nation's very foundation; and
The citizens of Georgia must never take for granted our privileges and freedom or forget to give thanks and honor to those who risk their lives so that we may enjoy our many blessings; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 30, 2016, as MEMORIAL DAY in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 23rd day of May in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
