BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

INTERNAL AUDIT AWARENESS WEEK

WHEREAS:

Internal auditors help their organizations meet their objectives by monitoring risks and ensuring that controls in place are adequate to mitigate those risks; and

WHEREAS:

Internal auditing is a vital part of strengthening organizations and protecting stakeholders in both the public and private sectors; and

WHEREAS:

Internal auditing is an increasingly sophisticated and complex activity that requires specialized knowledge, training, and education. Certified Internal Auditors are members of a recognized professional group who have earned the only professional designation for internal auditors that is recognized worldwide; and

WHEREAS:

This year, the Institute of Internal Auditors celebrates its 75th anniversary; and

WHEREAS:

Internal Audit Awareness Week recognizes and promotes the contributions of internal auditors and their effect on the well-being of the organizations global economy; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 16-22, 201 6, as INTERNAL AUDIT AWARENESS WEEK in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 16th day of May in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
