A PROCLAMATION
LICENSED DIETITIAN WEEK
WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS : THEREFORE:
Licensed dietitians play a vital role in Georgia ' s health care delivery system. These professionals are nutrition experts who provide important .food and nutrition services to Georgians, including nutrition education and medical nutrition therapy for prevention, well ness promotion, and disease management; and
Licensed dietitians help patients achieve optimum care as well as positive nutrition and health outcomes for a range of chronic diseases and conditions. Additionally, they support health policies and initiatives that encourage cost effective preventative care to maximize positive health outcomes; and
The State of Georgia requires dietitians to satisfy challenging educational and practice requirements prior to becoming licensed professionals. These individuals are also required to meet annual education requirements throughout their careers, ensuring they are most qualified to protect the health of their fellow citizens; and
Multiple associations throughout the state, such as the Georgia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, are committed to improving the health of Georgians through services provided by licensed dietitians; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 16-22, 2016, as LICENSED DIETITIAN WEEK in Georgia and encourage our citizens to recognize these health care professionals for their devotion to quality health outcomes in our state.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 1st day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen .
