BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION
PTA MEMBERSHIP ENROLLMENT MONTH
WHEREAS:
Children and youth are recognized as the most valuable resource in the State of Georgia. Since 1906, the Georgia Congress of Parents and Teachers has been a powerful voice advocating for education and children's issues; and
WHEREAS:
The purpose of Georgia PTA is to promote the welfare of children in the home, school and community; to raise the standards of home life; to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children; to bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children; to develop between educators and the general public unified efforts to secure for children the highest advantages in physical, mental and social education; and
WHEREAS:
For many years, Georgia PTA has served the needs of children, parents, and schools by tirelessly devoting themselves to making a better world for children and youth through active volunteerism; and
WHEREAS:
The strength of Georgia PTA's voice lies in its membership; now
THEREFORE :
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim March 2016 as PTA MEMBERSHIP ENROLLMENT MONTH, and I encourage everyone to join the PTA and become an advocate for children.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 15th day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
