A PROCLAMATION

GIFTED EDUCATION MONTH

THEREFORE :

Our children are one of our state's greatest resources. Georgia strives to meet the scholastic needs of all its citizens by providing quality educational programs; and
Education should foster the development of recognized potential in the areas of mental ability, creativity, academics, motivation, leadership, and visual and performing arts; and
The State of Georgia and its education systems play a key role in finding, maintaining, and furthering these unique human resources ; and
Georgia is blessed with tens of thousands of gifted and talented children whose full potential can be tapped only through the farsighted cooperation of educators, community members, and government leaders; and
Gifted students in Georgia provide our state with a vast potential resource for leadership in all areas of our society. Maximum development of each individual's intellectual and creative powers insures the challenges of the future will be more ably met; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim january 2017 as GIFTED EDUCATION MONTH in Georgia and call upon our citizens to join in recognizing the needs of our gifted young people.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 28th day of November in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
