BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH

WHEREAS:

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome is a progressive multi-symptom , multisystem neurological disorder that affects at least 1.5 million people and as many as six million Americans . This debilitating disease attacks the sympathetic nervous system, causing intense and disabling pain; and

WHEREAS:

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome is a complex condition with varying degrees of severity and disability that can develop after a major or minor injury; and

WHEREAS:

Increasing awareness of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome is important as early diagnosis is crucial . Leaving this disease untreated can result in damage to surrounding tissues and other areas of the body, ultimately leading to total disability; and

WHEREAS:

The month of November marks the focused effort to increase the awareness of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome in hopes of early and correct diagnosis and treatment, and to offer information, support, and comfort to those victims of this disease and their loved ones ; now

THEREFORE: I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim November 2016 as REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 3rd day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
