By the Governor of the State of Georgia, a proclamation, 2016 October 11

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

G.EORGIA GIVES.DAY

WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE:

Non profits play an important role in Georgia's. economy, providing jobs to thousands of Georgians while delivering many important servic~s to our state's citizens, such as education for our children, food for the hungry, and healthcare for our elderly to name just a few; and
Nonprofits, like other businesses and organizations, may financially struggle at times to keep operations afloat and meet the needs and demands of those they serve. It is important to recognize the benefits these numerous entities, deemed as charitable organizations and tax exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, provide to Georgians daily;. and
Funding these nonprofit entities, which strive to meet the ever growing needs and demands for their services and constantly seek financial support, is vital to keeping these engines in our communities viable and in assuring that essential services are provided to our citizens; and
This year, nonprofits from around Georgia have joined together to help make a greater impact by forming Georgia Gives Day, now in its fifth year, an effort to broaden awareness of the work and worth of Georgia non profits and to promote charitable giving and volunteerism; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim November 12, 2016 , as GEORGIA GIVES DAY in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 11th day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
