NURSES DAY
Professional nursing is an indispensable component in the safety and quality of care of patients, and the demand for registered nursing services will continue to increase due to an aging population, the continuing growth of life-sustaining technology, and the explosive growth of home health services; and
Some 1 50,000 registered nurses (RNs) make up Georgia's largest health care profession, successfully meeting the different and emerging health care needs of our population in a wide range of settings; and
More qualified RNs are needed to meet the increasingly complex needs of consumers; and
The Georgia Nurses Association is diligently working to chart a new course for a healthier Georgia by increasing the delivery of primary health care and renewing an emphasis on primary and preventive health care, better utilizing our state's RN resources; and
Today, we celebrate the past accomplishments of groups like the Georgia Nurses Association and look forward to their future contributions to our state's health care community; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 4, 2016, as NURSES DAY at the Capitol in Georgia as a day to celebrate the nurses of our state and encourage our citizens to express their appreciation for the valuable work Georgia nurses perform daily in the health care industry.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 20th day of january in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
