A PROCLAMATION
FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES DAY
WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS:
Family and consumer sciences is the comprehensive body of research , knowledge, and skills designed to help people make informed decisions about their well - being , relationships, and resources so they may achieve optimal quality of life; and
Family and consumer sciences represents many disciplines, including nutrition and wellness, food science, human development and parenting, personal and family finance , housing and apparel , and consumer issues; and
Family and consumer sciences professionals work to reduce risk behaviors of youth, increase rates of family bonding and child success, increase quality of child care, and increase school readiness of children; and
Family and consumer sciences professionals work to increase financial security and enhance economic opportunities through development of local entrepreneurs and support for both consumers and businesses in Georgia; and
WHEREAS :
Family and consumer sciences professionals work to promote better health and prevention of chronic disease through holistic approaches that address complex issues such as food choice, physical activity, family and workplace support, community environments, and other factors that impact health ; and
WHEREAS: THEREFORE:
National , state, and local policymakers as well as members of the public need the benefit of family and consumer sciences due to its direct relevance to the important societal concerns in Georgia; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia , do hereby proclaim February 11 , 2016, as FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES DAY in Georgia.
In witness the reof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 1gth day of january in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
