United Service Organizations (USO) is a not-for-profit organization chartered by the Congress of the United States to provide support and service to members of our Armed Forces and their families, both in the United States and abroad; and
The USO in Georgia maintains and operates facilities at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Robins Air Force Base , and Savannah International Airport, as well as outreach programs at Ft. Gordon, Ft. Benning, Hunter Army Airfield, and Ft. Stewart to support members of the armed forces, members of the National Guard, and their families; and
The USO in Georgia has provided assistance and support to more than 200 ,000 Military Service Members and their families annually through USO Centers and Outreach programs; and
On February 4, 2016, the USO will celebrate 75 years of continuous and valued service to members of the Armed Forces of the United States and their families ; and
Our nation's security relies on the patriotic men and women who make great sacrifices to protect the freedoms that all United States citizens cherish . Members of the military serve as guardians of this nation's freedom and liberty, and they have diligently and conscientiously undergone intensive and rigorous training in orde r to serve our country with honor and distinction during times of war and peace; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 2, 2016 , as UNITED SERVICES ORGANIZATION DAY in Georgia and celebrate the 75th anniversary of this beloved organization .
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 12th day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen .
