A proclamation: Children's Dental Health Month, Jan. 11, 2016

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

CHILDREN'S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH

WHEREAS:

The physical and mental health of our children is critical to the future well-being of our state and development of our nation. As such, guarding every aspect of our youth's health is imperative for society; and

WHEREAS:

An important component of a child's general health is dental health, and learning and maintaining a routine of good oral hygiene is a primary step in the development of a healthy body; and

WHEREAS:

Educational programs advocating for good dental health habits for children and youth, as well as in support of fluoridation of public water supplies, are instrumental in preventing dental disease; and

WHEREAS:

Organizations like the Georgia Dental Association are dedicated to supporting good dental health habits for our young people through educational programs such as the "Give Kids A Smile Program"; and

WHEREAS:

Adults are urged to ensure that children brush their teeth carefully at least twice a day; floss their teeth once a day; visit a dental office for preventative checkups and cleanings; and eat a well-balanced diet, avoiding excessive snacks between meals; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the state of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 2016 as CHILDREN 'S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH in Georgia.

In w itness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 11th day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand sixteen.
