BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION

NAVY DAY

WHEREAS: WHEREAS:

The United States of America has the world's finest Navy, and on Saturday, October 24, 201 5, we celebrate its 240th birthday; and
Servicemen and women selflessly and courageously serve our Nation in times of peace and in times of conflict, ensuring that all people of the Unites States and elsewhere have the opportunity to enjoy the freedoms and principles upon which our country was founded. Such bravery should be celebrated and recognized; and

WHEREAS:

Members of the United States Navy exemplify courage as well as an unyielding patriotic spirit; and

WHEREAS:

The citizens of Georgia support all branches of the Armed Forces of the

United States, and we honor their service with full and grateful hearts. Our

state is home to more than 776,000 veterans, and we are honored that



they choose to reside in Georgia; and

WHEREAS:

The Annual Navy Birthday Ball will be held in Atlanta on Saturday, October 24, 201 5, and will recognize the patriotic sacrifices of Sailors and Marines, living and dead, who have served our country with Valor, determination, and character; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim October 24, 201 5, as NAVY DAY in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 22nd day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand fifteen.
