WATER SAFETY MONTH
Swimming and aquatic activities provide positive physical and mental benefits which enhance our quality of life; and
The citizens of Georgia recognize the vital role that water safety education plays in preventing drownings and recreational waterrelated injuries. It is important to abide by the rules set forth by trained and certified aquatics professionals who develop water safety rules; and
The citizens of Georgia also recognize the ongoing efforts and commitments to educate the public on pool and spa safety issues as well as initiatives by the pool, spa, water park, and recreation and parks industries. All Georgians should understand the vital importance of communicating water safety rules and programs to families and individuals of all ages - whether they are owners of private pools, users of public facilities, or visitors to water parks; and
The recreational water industry has organized the National Water Safety Month Coalition to promote safe swimming facilities, aquatic programs, home pools and spas, and related activities; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 201 5 as WATER SAFETY MONTH in Georgia.
