A proclamation: Youth Art Month, Mar. 3, 2015

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION

YOUTH ART MONTH

WHEREAS:

The study of art fosters a greater understanding of our culture and history that offers respite to our minds and souls; and

WHEREAS:

The training and visual acuity gained through the art experience opens new worlds to art educators for students and patrons. As such, it is important to expose our children and youth to art; and

WHEREAS:

Art is a valuable contribution to the total education experience of Georgia's children. Evolving society requires physical and philosophical visions that can be enhanced by an appreciation of the arts, from visual and performing to literary and folk art; and

WHEREAS:

The National Art Education Association, in conjunction with the Georgia Art Education Association, is striving to improve the well-being of our communities by upgrading visual awareness and the cultural strength of Georgia and the nation as a whole; and

WHEREAS: This year's theme is: "Youth Art Month - Make It Pop!"; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim the month of March 201 5 as YOUTH ART MONTH in Georgia and encourage our citizens to support and instill an appreciation of the arts in our youth.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 3rd day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand fifteen.
