A proclamation: Lineman Appreciation Day, Mar. 31, 2015

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION LINEMAN APPRECIATION DAY

WHEREAS:

A lineman is a tradesman who constructs and maintains energy infrastructure. The profession of linemen is steeped in personal, familial, and professional tradition; and

WHEREAS:

Linemen are often first responders during storms and other catastrophic events, working to make a scene safe for other public safety professionals; and

WHEREAS:

Linemen work with thousands of volts of electricity high atop power lines 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to keep electricity flowing; and

WHEREAS:

Often times, linemen work under dangerous conditions far from their families, putting their lives on the line with little recognition from the community regarding the danger of their work; and

WHEREAS:

Multiple organizations throughout the state, including the National Association of Journeymen Linemen, Georgia EMCs, Electric Cities of Georgia, and Georgia Power, are coming together to ensure that the linemen of Georgia are recognized for their effective and dedicated service to the citizens of this state; now

THEREFORE: I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim April 18, 201 5, as LINEMEN APPRECIATION DAY in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 31st day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand fifteen.
