A proclamation: Family and Consumer Sciences "Dine-in" Day, Nov. 9, 2015

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION
FAM ILY AND CONSUMER SCIE_NCES "DINE-IN" DAY

WHEREAS:

Ellen Swallow Richards, the first female graduate and faculty member of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, blazed a path for Family and Consumer Sciences; and

WHEREAS:

Building on a strong foundation, Family and Consumer Sciences continues to use the family as its central focus, thereby expanding its content base to meet the ever-evolving needs of that entity; and

WHEREAS:

Family and Consumer Sciences has a long and respected history of utilizing areas of expertise to equip and empower individuals and families to manage the challenges of living and working in a diverse global society; and

WHEREAS:

Dining-in provides opportunities for the family to connect and learn from one another. Family meals foster warmth, security, and love, and can be a unifying experience for all; and

WHEREAS:

Family and Consumer Sciences professionals promote families eating and preparing meals together as way to nurture strong family bonds and improve nutrition. Last year, more than l 00,000 families committed to preparing and eating a healthy meal together on "Dine - In" day; now

THEREFORE :

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim December 3, 2015, as FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES "DINE-IN" DAY in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 9th day of November in the year of our Lord two thousand fifteen.
