The Salvation Army's mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs without discrimination. It is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian church and the teachings of scripture, and its ministry is motivated by the love of God; and
The Salvation Army is present in all 159 counties of Georgia. They provide a sense of wholeness to the community through spiritual ministries, family residence programs, homeless shelters, alcohol and drug rehabilitation, youth services, emergency and disaster services, educational programs, Christmas assistance, and many other life-changing programs; and
The Salvation Army has become a well-respected organizq.tion in our state, and this year marks its 125th anniversary; and
The Salvation Army continues to partner with individual, group, and corporate donors and volunteers to harness their energy, time, and resources to improve the social condition of all citizens in Georgia; and
In celebration of their 125 years of service to our state, we recognize and honor The Salvation Army for their dedication, leadership, contributions, and outstanding service; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim October 19-25, 2015 as THE SALVATION ARMY WEEK in Georgia in recognition of the 125th year of this beloved organization.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 1st day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand fifteen .
