NURSE PRACTITIONER WEEK
There are more than 155,000 licensed nurse practitioners in the United States and more than 6,000 in Georgia . They have provided high-quality, patient-centered, costeffective, personalized healthcare for more than 50 years; and
Nurse practitioners possess advanced medical education and clinical training beyond their initial registered nurse preparation . These individuals order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, and prescribe medications and other treatments ; and
Nurse practitioners focus on health promotion, wellness, disease prevention, counseling, and educate their patients in making more informed healthcare and smarter lifestyle choices; and
Nurse practitioners provide care to people of all ages and in diverse health care settings such as private practices , hospitals, long - term care facilities , schools, state and local health departments, managed care facilities , and retail - based clinics . More than 18 percent of nurse practitioners practice in rural settings with populations of less than 2 5 ,000; and
The quality of the care provided by nurse practitioners is well known in Georgia. Patients of nurse practitioners are given more personal time and attention than they traditionally receive from other health care providers. Georgia is proud to recognize these individu als for improving the quality of life of their fellow citizens ; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim November 91 5, 201 5, as NURSE PRACTITIONER WEEK in Georgia.
