BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION
TOASTMASTERS MONTH
WHEREAS:
In today's competitive job market, companies and organizations seek employees who possess leadership, communication, and social skills. The ability to impart ideas effectively is essential to advancement in any occupation; and
WHEREAS:
For over 70 years, Georgia Toastmasters volunteers have mentored their club members, helping them develop exemplary public speaking and leadership skills. Toastmasters training is available throughout District 14, from Athens to Valdosta and from Columbus to the Atlanta Ocean with more than 2,350members in over 132 clubs; and
WHEREAS:
Three generations of Georgia citizens who may have previously lacked confidence and ability have now become competent and effective leaders in our community schools, businesses, places of worship, and governments. Many of these new leaders use their newfound voices in numerous Georgia charitable endeavors to advocate for "those who have no voice"; and
WHEREAS: THEREFORE:
Toastmasters Month is an effort to inform the public of the importance of public speaking and the benefits of improving leadership, communication, and social skills; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 2014 as TOASTMASTERS MONTH in Georgia and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 7th day of April in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
