A PROCLAMATION
PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
Public works infrastructure, facilities, and services are of vital importance to the health, safety, and well-being of the citizens of Georgia; and
These facilities and services would not be available without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, engineers, and administrators, representing state and local units of government who are responsible for transportation, water supply, sewage, refuse disposal systems, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential to serving our citizens; and
It is in the public interest for the citizens and civic leaders of th is state to maintain a progressive interest in the public works needs and programs of their respective communities; and
This year marks the 54th annual Public Works Week. I urge all our citizens to join wi t h representatives of governmental agencies and the American Public Works Association in activities and ceremonies designed to honor our public works professionals, engineers, and administrators, and to recognize the substantial contributions they have made to our national health and welfare; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 18-24, 2014, as PUBLIC WORKS WEEK in Georgia.
