BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION FAMILY CHILD CARE MATTERS DAY

WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE:

Georgia's most valuable resource is our children and their working parents are the backbone of our economy. Family child care professionals in Georgia work in more than 3,120 family child care homes serving thousands of children from birth through elementary school; and
Early childhood organizations and programs around our state are working to improve training conferences, which are crucial to the quality and development of providers; and
Family child care providers offer nurturing and consistent care, develop lasting relationships with families, and prepare children with the skills they need to enter school eager to learn; and
Members of organizations across our state like the Professional Family Child Care Alliance of Georgia work diligently to call attention to the importance of quality child care services for all children and families and to enhance the quality and availability of such services; and
Our future depends on the quality of care provided to young children today, and the citizens of the State of Georgia recognize child care providers for their hard work and commitment to our state's most precious entity: our children; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 17, 2014, as FAMILY CHILD CARE MATTERS DAY in Georgia and encourage our citizens to recognize the important work of family child care providers.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 1st day of April in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
