A PROCLAMATION
For
GEORGIA BBQ CONTESTS
WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS:
WHEREAS: THEREFORE:
Multiple cities around the State of Georgia hold annual BBQ cookoffs; and
Georgia BBQ has earned high marks in international culinary circles. A designated state championship event generally draws a much larger field and raises awareness of BBQ throughout our state; and
By declaring these event state championships, the winners will have the opportunity to compete in the National Championship, including The American Royal and The jack Daniels Invitational, which makes each BBQ competition a major event in the State of Georgia; and
A Governors Proclamation is required by National Championship events for eligibility of contest winners to receive an invitation to compete; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim all BBQ Contests held in the State of Georgia to be official Georgia State Championships.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 3rd day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
