A PROCLAMATION
CHIROPRACTIC MONTH
WHEREAS:
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system . The Chiropractic method does not involve medicine, drugs, or surgery of any kind; and
WHEREAS:
The most common procedure performed by chiropractors is spinal manipulation, an approach that helps restore joint mobility by applying manual force into joints that have restricted movement because of traumatic injury or repetitive stress; and
WHEREAS:
Half of all working Americans admit to having some sort of back pain each year and 31 million Americans suffer from lower back pain at any given point in time. Back pain is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor and one of the most common reasons for missed work. The cost of back pain amounts to billions of dollars annually, including treatment and lost productivity; and
WHEREAS:
The Chiropractic profession is the most rapidly growing segment of health care. Over 30 million Americans seek chiropractic care each year, and chiropractors are highly trained practitioners with thousands of hours of clinical experience and classroom teaching. There are currently more than 60,000 practitioners with 3,010 working in Georgia; and
WHEREAS:
Chiropractic is recognized as quality care that can ease musculoskeletal pain without surgical or medicinal intervention for millions of Americans. Life University in Marietta, Georgia, is currently the largest Chiropractic school in the world; now
THEREFORE:
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2014 as CHIROPRACTIC MONTH in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 3rd day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
