A PROCLAMATION HOMELESS VETERANS & VETERANS IN NEED SUPPORT DAY

Veterans are national heroes, and Georgians appreciate the contributions of veterans and active member of the military in the security of our state and nation. Georgia is committed to honoring all veterans and service men and women in all branches of the Armed Forces; and
The State of Georgia is home to more than 770,000 veterans and tens of thousands of our nation's military families. We remember with somber and grateful hearts those men and women who have served the United States of America with distinction and valor as sailors, soldiers, airmen, and marines, and offer our sincere prayers for those who continue to defend the principles upon which our nation was founded; and
Organizations throughout the state provide opportunities, such as the annual "Homeless Veterans and Veterans in Need Stand Down" event in Columbus, Georgia, for our citizens to support our homeless veteran population and provide them assistance; and
Georgia residents are encouraged to recognize the individuals and organizations who are working to aid homeless veterans and other veterans in need; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim April 26, 2014, as HOMELESS VETERANS & VETERANS IN NEED SUPPORT DAY in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 24th day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
