BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK
WHEREAS:
Emergency medical services are vital to communities. Access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS:
Emergency medical services teams, consisting of emergency physicians, nurses, medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators and administrators, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
WHEREAS:
Georgia's first responders, emergency medical technicians, cardiac technicians and paramedics stand ready to provide lifesaving treatment to those in need, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS:
Injury prevention and the appropriate use of the emergency medical services system aid in reducing health care costs, and Emergency Medical Service providers have served as first responders in our health care system; and
WHEREAS:
The State of Georgia is proud to join the nation in recognizing emergency medical services professionals and the outstanding and courageous job they perform daily in serving their fellow man; now
THEREFORE:
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 19-23, 2014, as EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK in Georgia in recognition of the invaluable public service performed by the dedicated EMS professionals in our state.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 18th day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
