BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION TEACH FOR AMERICA WEEK
WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE:
Every student in Georgia has the right to an excellent education. Students from all backgrounds have the potential to succeed at the highest levels if given the opportunity; and
Teach For America recruits and develops a diverse corps of outstanding individuals to teach in high-need schools and become lifelong leaders in the movement to end educational inequity; and
Organizations like Teach For America Week highlight an urgent need in our state by raising awareness about the challenges facing students in our communities and demonstrating that when students are given the educational opportunities they deserve, they reach their highest potential; and
This week affords us the opportunity to celebrate the value of collaboration, bringing together community leaders across the metro Atlanta area as guest teachers who engage and inspire students with lessons informed by their personal and professional experiences; and
Education is our number one economic development tool, and there is no more forward looking or strategic place to invest. Our children are the next generation of Georgia's leaders. Preparing them to start businesses, launch successful careers, bring creative ideas to life, and pursue their dreams should be a priority for every citizen; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim March 24-28, 2014, as TEACH FOR AMERICA WEEK in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 5th day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
