BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION PHYSICAL THERAPY MONTH

Organizations like the Georgia Chapter of the American Physical . Therapy Association aid those who have suffered an injury or developmental condition by recommending physical therapy by a licensed physical therapist to maximize physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle; and
The mission of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia is to improve the health and quality of life for individuals in our society by advancing physical therapist practice, education, and research and by increasing the awareness and understanding of the physical therapist's role in Georgia's health services delivery system; and
Physical therapists in Georgia are held to a high educational standard by earning a doctor of physical therapy degree, acquiring state licensure, and maintaining competency to provide examination of and treatment for conditions limiting movement and functional activity as well as preventing the loss of mobility before it occurs; and
Physical therapist assistants complete an associate's degree and are licensed to provide selected physical therapy treatment under the direction and supervision of physical therapists; and
The 2,090 members of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia provide our citizens with expert neuromusculoskeletal examination and treatment, improving health, fitness, wellness, and mobility across a patient's lifespan. It is estimated that more than 496,000 Georgians require the care of a physical therapist each year; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim October 2014 as PHYSICAL THERAPY MONTH in Georgia.
