Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706, in Boston, Massachusetts, where he learned and practiced the trade of printing; and
Along with his great service to our country, Benjamin Franklin is well remembered for his skill and craftsmanship in printing; and
Since the days of Benjamin Franklin, the printing industry has contributed immensely to the growth of our nation and has become one of the top 10 industries in America; and
The printing industry is a $4.1 74 billion industry in the State of Georgia, employing approximately 27,000 Georgians. Organizations like the Printing and Imaging Association of Georgia are valued corporate entities that participate and have influence in the educational, governmental and business functions of this state; and
For over 82 years, a special week has been set aside to commemorate the birthday of Benjamin Franklin and to acknowledge the men and women of the printing profession as well as their dedication to the printed word ; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim the week of january 12-18, 2015, as PRINTING AND IMAGING WEEK in Georgia, and urge our citizens to recognize this tribute to the industry which Benjamin Franklin served and which plays such a vital role in the quality of modern life.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 2nd day of December in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
