A proclamation: Children's Dental Health Month, Nov. 25, 2014

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

CHILDREN'S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH

WHEREAS:

The physical and mental health of our children is critical to the future well-being of our state and development of our nation. Guarding the health of our youth is thus imperative for society; and

WHEREAS:

An important component of a child's general health is dental health, and learning and maintaining a routine of good oral hygiene is a primary step in the development of a healthy body; and

WHEREAS:

Educational programs in support of good dental health habits for children and youth as well as in support of fluoridation of public water supplies are instrumental in preventing dental disease; and

WHEREAS:

Adults are urged to ensure that children brush their teeth carefully at least once a day, remembering that a thorough job takes two to three minutes; floss their teeth once a day; visit a dental office for preventative checkups and cleanings; and eat a well-balanced diet, avoiding excessive snacks between meals; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the state of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 2014 as CHILDREN'S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 25th day of November in the year of our Lord two thousand thirteen .
