BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA

A PROCLAMATION SURVEYING AND MAPPING WEEK

WHEREAS:

Land surveyors are experts at making measurements and applying this information to the needs of today's society; and

WHEREAS:

Every map in existence is constructed based on surveyors' measurements of positions of points on the surface of the earth; and

WHEREAS:

The general public makes important decisions based on the knowledge and expertise of land surveyors, and they play a critical role in not only engineering and construction projects but also in establishing and locating boundaries of land; and

WHEREAS:

The land surveyors of Georgia, who are licensed by the state to perform surveys in the public interest, have served our citizens by increasing public awareness of property rights. We are thankful for their many contributions to the mapping industry and the overall advancement of our state; now

THEREFORE:

I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim March 16-22, 2014, as SURVEYING AND MAPPING WEEK in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 27th day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
