BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE:
A PROCLAMATION
PARENTAL ALIENATION AWAREN.ESS WEEK
The well-being of all children is a top priority in Georgia, and our courts and social service agencies recognize the importance of strong families as well as the need for prevention of alienating behaviors; and
Alienating behaviors are often found in high-conflict separations, divorces, and custody disputes. These behaviors can destroy the bond between a loving parent and child; and
Parental alienation can interfere with a child's mental and emotional development and can affect them into adulthood with tragic consequences; and
There is little public awareness of parental alienation and it is a growing issue. With awareness comes education and understanding as well as the power to stop the abuse of innocent children caught in these difficult circumstances; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim the week of April 20-26, 2014, as PARENTAL ALIENATION AWARENESS WEEK in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 23rd day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand fourteen.
