A PROCLAMATION SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK

School counselors across Georgia work diligently as valued components of both public and private schools to aid students in reaching their full potential. They are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents as these traits relate to career awareness and development; and
School counselors also help parents focus on ways to further the educational, personal, and social growth of their children; and
School counselors work with teachers and other educators to help students explore their potential and set realistic goals for their futures. They seek to identify and utilize community resources that can enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs, helping students become productive members of society; and
Comprehensive developmental school counseling programs are considered an integral part of the educational process that enables all students to achieve success in school; and
Children are the future of our state and nation. Through their devotion and hard work, school counselors in Georgia help to secure and shape that future by preparing our students for the 21st century workforce; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 3-7, 2014, as SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK in Georgia.
