WATER SAFETY MONTH
Swimm ing and aquatic activities provide positive phys ical and mental benefits wh ich enhance our quality of life; and
The citizens of Georg ia recogn ize the vital ro le that water safety education plays in preventi ng drownings and recreational waterrelated injuries. !t is important to abide by the rules set forth by trai ned and certified aquatics professionals who develop water safety rules; and
The citizens of Georgia recogn ize the ongoing efforts and comm itments to educate the public on pool and spa safety issues as we ll as initiatives by the pool, spa, water park, and recreation and parks i ndustries. Al l Georg ians should understand the vital i mportance of commun icati ng water safety ru les and programs to fami lies and individuals of all ages - whether they are owners of private pools, users of public f aci lities, or visitors to water parks ; and
The recreational water industry has organized the National Water Safety Month Coa!ition to promote safe swimm ing facilities , aquatic programs , home pools and spas, and related activit ies; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 2013 as WATER SAFETY MONTH in Georgia.
