A PROCLAMATION
CHARTER SCHOOLS WEEK
Our State's future depends on the education we provide to our sons and daughters , and charter schools across our state serve as laboratories for education . Ideas developed and tested by charter schools have and continue to un lock potential in students of every background and are driving reform th rou ghout many school districts. During Charter Schools Week in Georgia, we recommit ourselves to supporting innovation in teaching and learning at high quality charter schools and ensuring all our students have a chance to realize the American Dream; and
Education is the gateway to a brighter future for our children and our state . During Charter Schools Week, we celebrate the commitment of charter schoo ls to academ ic achievement . accountability and innovation; and
Charter schools throughout Georgia are providing their communities with quality choices in public education . We recogn ize the vital role charte r schoo ls play in develop ing a state where children have the knowledge and skills they need to grow, succeed and achi eve their dreams; and
Charter public schools are vehicles of innovation by which Georgia will continue to prosper as a state anci can closely align educational curriculum with the needs of an individual commu rity due to the f lexibility chartering offers; and
We must give every child the best opportunity to learn and succeed in life. Charter schoo ls help prepare our next generation of leaders and help ensure that America continues to lead in innovation; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 5- ll, 2013 , as CHARTER SCHOOLS WEEK in Georgia.
