CORRECTIONAL NURSES WEEK

The more than 11 2,000 registered nurses in Georgia comprise our state' s largest health care profession, emphas izing primary and preventative medical care to mil lions of people annually; and
Georg ia' s registered nurses strive to meet the emerging health care needs of our state ' s varied popu lation i n a wide range of settings. These nurses provide cost-effective, safe, and qual ity health care, demonstrating their professionalism and compassion for patients wh ile continuously striving to improve standards and service; and
Nurses working in correctional setti ngs provide care to individuals w ith i ncreased risk of infectious diseases , mental health disorders, chron ic med ical conditions, and acute o r emergent problems requ ir ing immediate intervention; and
Nurses are committed to providing prisoners with high-quality ca re and ensuring that they are treated with d ignity, respect, and professional expertise; now
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 6-12, 2013, as CORRECTIONAL NURSES WEEK in Georgia.
