A PROCLAMATION
PARKINSON'S DISEASE AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS :
Parkinson' s disease is a progressive disorder of the central nervous system affecting more than 1.5 million people in the United States; and
WHEREAS:
The American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc., founded in 1961, has sought to "Ease the Burden and Find the Cure" for th i s disease through research, patient and family services, education and sponsorship of more than 53 chapters, 62 information and referra l centers and more than 1,000 support groups throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS :
The State of Georgia observes Parkinson ' s Disease Awareness Month in April , provid ing an opportunity to bring greater awareness to th is illness and focus on efforts for find ing a cure; and
WHEREAS :
The State of Georgia recogn izes the efforts of al l Georgians who raise funds and promote awareness to fight Parkinson' s d isease, thereby improving the quality of life for those living with this disease; and
THEREFORE:
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim April 2013, as PARKINSON'S DISEASE AWARENESS MONTH in Georgia.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 27th day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand th irteen.
