A PROCLAMATION
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK
WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS :
Emergency medical services are vital to communities. Access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
Emergency medical services teams, consisting of emergency physicians, nurses, medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators and administrators, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
Georgia's first responders, emergency medical techn icians, cardiac technicians and paramedics stand ready to provide lifesaving treatment to those in need,
24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
Injury prevention and the appropriate use of the emergency mediIcal services system aid i n reducing health care costs, and Emergency Medical Service providers have served as first responders in our health care system; and
The State of Georgia is proud to join the nation in recognizing emergency medical services professionals and the outstanding and courageous j ob they perform daily in serving their fellow man; now
THEREFORE:
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 2 1-27, 2012, as EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK in Georgia in recognition of the invaluab le public service performed by the dedicated EMS profess ionals in our state.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed th is 7th day of May in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve.
