A PROCLAMATION
ASIAN-PACIFIC AMERICAN
HERITAGE MONTH
Throughout our history, Asian - Pacific Americans have made great contributions to our collective heritage and have enriched the quality of life here in Georgia. They continue to make lasting impacts to this day; and
Asian-Pacific Americans are productive and resourcefu l contributors to a mu ltitude of industries and businesses throughout our nation 's history. Laboring under very difficult conditions, the work of these individuals was crucial in mining, railroad work, and the assembly of our nation ' s infrastructure system. Today, they continue to contribute in business , job creation, academ ia, and public service. As Asian-Pacific Americans continue to be one of the fastest growing segments of America' s population, they have proven to be significant donors to the societal fabric of Georg ia' s population; and
WHEREAS: TH EREFORE:
During the observance of As ian-Pacific American Heritage Month, we ce lebrate the cultural traditions , ancestry, native languages and unique experiences represented among ethnic groups from Asia and the Pacific found here in the United States . We also recognize millions of As ian -Pacific Americans whose hard work and love of fami ly and commun ity have he lped un ite us as a people and susta in us as a nation; now
