BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION RONALD REAGAN DAY
WHEREAS:
President Ronald Wilson Reagan, a man of humble background, worked throughout his entire life serving freedom and advancing the public good , having worked as an entertainer, un ion leader, corporate spokesman, Governor of Ca liforn ia and Pres ident of the United States of America; and
WHEREAS:
Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction for two terms as the 40th President of the United States; and
WHEREAS:
During Mr. Reagan's presidency he worked in a bipartisan manner to enact his bold agenda of restoring accountability and common sense to government, which led to an unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for millions of Americans; and
WHEREAS :
Pres ident Reagan ' s comm itment to our armed f orces contributed to the restoration of American strength, pride in her values and those cherished by the free world, and prepared America's military to meet 21st Century challenges; and
WHEREAS :
President Reagan' s vision of "peace through strength" led to the end of the Cold War and the ultimate demise of the Soviet Union, guaranteeing bas ic human rights for mi llions of people; an d
WHEREAS:
February 6, 2012, wi ll be the 101 st anniversary of Rona ld Reagan ' s birth, and the eighth since his pass ing; now
T HEREFORE:
I, NATHAN DEAL Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 6, 2012 , as RONALD REAGAN DAY in Georg ia and encourage our citizens to commemorate th is day with appropriate ceremon ies and ce lebrations in honor of our nation ' s 40th Pres ident.
