A PROCLAMATION
THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES 4QTH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS :
The Department of Admin istrative Services (DOAS) was created by the Executive Reorganization Act of 1972 to provide leadership and support for the administrative needs of state agencies and personnel; and
WHEREAS:
DOAS has evolved and adapted over the course of four decades to meet the changing needs of its customers, take advantage of too ls and technology, and serve policy makers in state government; and
WHEREAS:
Today, DOAS provides value to its customers through state purchasing, surplus property redistribution and disposal, motor vehicle fleet management, workers' compensation, property self-insurance programs, and human resources administration, which are focused on reducing costs, supporting compliance, and ensuring a quality workforce ; and
WHEREAS:
DOAS strives to be a servant leader and trusted partner to the people of state and local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and businesses in Georg ia; and
WHEREAS:
The people w ho have worked at DOAS over the past 40 years are the reason for the organization 's success, thanks to their commitment to excellence in everything they do; now
THEREFORE: I, Nathan Deal, Governor of the State of Georg ia, do hereby proclaim October 25, 2012 as the ce lebration for the DOAS 40th ann iversary, and congratu late the customer-focused , performance - driven team of employees at the Department of Admin istrative Services on this special occasion.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 25th day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve.
