A PROCLAMATION
PARENT ENGAGEMENT MONTH
WHEREAS:
Education is the gateway to a brighter future for our ch ildren and our state. Georgia is committed to excellence in education and recognizes the importance of family participation in that pursuit of excellence; and
WHEREAS:
Through active, ongoing engagement with their children, parents have the power to ensure their children succeed in achieving education goals. Parent engagement can take place at home and at school; and
WHEREAS:
Partnerships are powerfu l, and by working directly with their children's schools and teachers, parents can build a strong foundation on which the ir children will thrive; and
WHEREAS:
Parent Engagement Month provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of parent engagement in a child's education from Pre-K to 12th grade; now
THEREFORE:
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the state of Georgia, do hereby proclaim November 2011, as PARENT ENGAGEMENT MONTH in Georgia, with November 17 as PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT DAY, and encourage parents to remain actively involved in the education of their children.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 19th day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand eleven.
