THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:
Flags on State Buildings and Grounds Ordered Lowered to Half Staff
Whereas: On Friday, May 31, 2019, employees of a municipal building in Virginia Beach, Virginia witnessed a senseless act of violence as a lone gunman opened fire in their place of work; and
Whereas: The people of Georgia share the grief of the families and friends of those who were injured or killed, and we pray for their comfort and healing in the days to come; and
Whereas: The President of the United States has ordered that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff on government buildings and grounds.
NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THOSE AFFECTED BYTHIS TRAGEDY, PURSUANTTO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME as Governor of the State of Georgia, it is hereby
Ordered:
That in honor of the victims and in conjunction with the Proclamation of the President of the United States of America, the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds from this date until sunset on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
